I'm a family man who has spent his entire adult life in Silicon Valley. I've founded two companies and worked at about 10 start-ups; mostly as a software engineer; but also is a hardware troubleshooter, acoustic engineer, artist, web master, writer, and teacher. My full bio is here. I'm also an amateur skier, electric guitar player (hard rock), and a semi-professional loudspeaker designer. In more recent years I've become passionate about empowering people, which lead me to some activism. Successes include the Network Neutrality Squad software agent, which was instrumental in forcing Comcast to stop censoring it's customers, and longtime work as a Board member of BACE, which has so far resulted in a 90% cut in air pollution from the Lehigh cement plant in Cupertino, CA., one of California's largest polluters.
Current projects include:
- BioMoods, A web application designed to help people determine exactly how their daily activities (diet, exercise, hobbies, supplements, social media) affect their state of mind.
- LinkShare, A free service to help people manage and share the many additional links that proliferated during the 2020 Covid shutdwon, including Zoom, Web-Ex, Google docs, Slack & Facebook groups, etc.
